Proud Grandmother, Carol Pelletier had two grandsons to cheer for last night (Feb 3) when Fort Kent and Wisdom played. Mason is a Warrior and Camden is a Pioneer. Nothing like Family!!!

Olivia McNally, always was a personal favorite of mine.
She Graduated from Katahdin High School and UMPI. She played basketball in both places.
She works as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Southern Maine.
This year she stepped into the coaching ranks as the 8th grade girls coach at Loranger Memorial School in RSU 23 in Old Orchaard Beach.
She is shown here, proudly standing by a banner of her team which recently completed a perfect 11- 0 season.
Congratulations Olivia and here is to many more years of continued success.

Have you seen Joseph Lemelin in your gym this season.? He is the new Sports Guy at WAGM TV. He started working with Rene Cloukey – Wagmtv, but has kind of had a lot to learn on the fly after Rene’s retirement. Gray Media decided that our area only need one sports reporter instead of two and Joseph has a lot of people to meet between the St John Valley and the Katahdin Region.
When you see him in your gym, take a minute to welcome him to The County! He is working hard to bring our athletes the best coverage that he can.
At the very least, share some popcorn with him, so he can tell us who has the best Popcorn in The County.
He;s not hard to spot. He is the guy with the fancy camera capturing highlights our your atheletes

WARRIORS REBUILDING
by Ken Holck
Coach Cliff Urquhart knew he would have to replace three starters from last season from the State Championship team. Cami Shields, Maddie Shields and Emma Landry all graduated and each had started for the past three seasons.
However, injuries have forced the Warriors into an entirely new starting unit this season.
Junior Ally Shields was lost with a season-ending knee injury in the preseason and more recently returning point guard Hannah McGary has found herself in need a walking boot which will keep her out of action for the foreseeable future.
The Warriors started off with a pretty tough schedule and currently find themself with a three-and-five record and in 7th place in Class D.
Coach Urquhart sees a light at the end of the tunnel. This current group is gaining experience quickly and have been competitive on most nights. His two captains remain with the team and offer leadership qualities and encouragement to their teammates.
Senior Libby Anderson is the team’s post-presence. Last year she served as the first person off the bench in most games. This year she has been counted on to do most of the rebounding and a lot of the inside scoring Libby sets the tone with her hard work and her big smile every day
Sophomore Alexis Hersey is starting to realize her potential as she has emerged as the team’s high scorer in most games. One opposing coach recently called her the most underrated player in the County, and definitely one of the most improved.
Sophomore Jazmyn Ellingwood has taken over the point responsibilities. She is a hard-nosed defensive player who is on the front of the press She is a steady scorer as well
Her sister Olivia, a senior, has been holding down one of the inside positions in the team and has shown the ability to mix it up with the other teams’ post players and provide some scoring.
Freshman Emma Stubbs, has been the 5th starter in most games has been counted on to rebound and score a little bit from the inside.
Freshman Haley McGary has played major minutes as the first person off the bench the hard-working little lefty has gained confidence in each game and has a knack for picking up key baskets with her fearless drives to the hoop.
Kendall Lawler, Neveah Keyes, Savanah Anderson, and Grace Anderson have been steady contributors when called upon.
Coach Urquhart and his assistant Wendall Harvey are both pleased with the effort of this young team.
By the time post-season arrives, this team should be ready to make some noise.

Congratulations Madelynn Duprey on your commitment to Southern New Hampshire University
“So unbelievably blessed to announce my commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Southern New Hampshire University. Huge thank you to Coach Pinkos for this amazing opportunity.
Most importantly thank you to my mom and dad. You both have sacrificed countless hours driving me up and down the interstate, rebounding for me in the gym, and teaching me valuable lessons on and off the court. Without the unlimited support from the both of you none of this would be possible. Go Penmen

Owen Sweeney poured in 56 points last night against Ashland, in his bid to reach 1000 points before the Tournament starts. ( He fell just short last night- but should easily reach the milestone in the quarterfinals)
In the process, he set a new single-game scoring record for Easton High School. The previous record was 46 points, held by Mark Page which was set 43 years ago.
Page set the record on January 11, 1981, when Easton played. Southern Aroostook. The Bears won that game 85-61.
